Vancouver has had the worst start of the year for road fatalities which prompted us to write this blog urging drivers to slow down and reduce your speed this spring break and also plan ahead for a safe ride home. The founders of “Sober Girls Designated Drivers Vancouver BC” would like everyone to be safe during the spring break and for Easter weekend so “If you are planning to drink, then plan not to drive”.
“There are plenty of Plan B choices.”
Plan B options include:
• Getting a taxi
• Taking the bus or skytrain
• Hiring a designated driver
• Staying at a friend’s house
• Walking home
Remember even if you are sober using your mobile phone will cost you; this offence will add four points to your driving record.
“Distraction do increase your chance of having a crash, so know the rules.”
Stop the temptation to use your mobile phone”
• Make sure your phone is secured in a holster
• Get a Bluetooth device
• Put your phone out of reach, such as in the trunk
• Put your phone on silent
• Delegate a passenger to be on ‘phone duty’
• Tell people if you do not answer it is because you are driving
“Nothing is so urgent that you should risk your life this Spring Break.”

If you have children “Sober Girls Designated Drivers Vancouver BC” urges you to call a service to get you and the children home safely even if you have had only 1 drink. Do not risk driving because if you go through a roadblock even if you blow under the police will notify The Ministry of Children and Families and you will be reported to child protection. Think of how that will go when you have child protection workers thinking you have an alcohol problem? We do not want that for you and this is why we write these blogs.

Lastly stay away from hourly rate designated driver services they will over charge your credit card so make sure the way you get home is honest and safe for you and your loved ones. The best way to have the safest Easter and Spring break is to plan ahead for a safe way home. At “Sober Girls Designated Drivers Vancouver BC we want to offer the public resources to other “Designated Driver Services” and the best way for us to do this is by calling our dispatch line before making any decisions. Having a safe ride home is so important in so many cases right down to being on medication so do not risk it. There are many services like the bus, skytrain, taxi, limo, dd service, friend, family and simply walking home
